Throttle Position Sensor/ Torque converter issues
1999 4.0 AW4
I have three engines codes right now. 2 are for the TPS (replaced about 2 months ago) that are coming on and off about every other day which are P0122 and P0123. The other one is P0740, which is the torque converter performance. I didn’t know about this one until yesterday. The symptoms/issues I am having right now have been going on since the TPS issue 2 months ago, but the engine code never came on for P0740 until this past week at most. In the morning, only on the 1st start of the day, when in drive, it sputters for a few seconds with no power and suddenly snaps back to being normal. Also, on a dead stop, there is a hollow clanking sound coming from the torque converter only for a few seconds. After this, it seems like the torque converter isn’t engaging but it suddenly jerks and acts like it is. What are the next steps to fixing my issue? What will I most likely need to replace?

Well test and then replace the TPS with a quality unit. I'd also pull the inspection cover from the lower front of the bell housing and check the torque converter bolts to make sure they aren't the sound of the noise. Check the fluid level too.
