Throttle Position Sensor (Code 24)
Programbo , I started following the purple/white wire from the tps to the map and found that it goes somewhere else. Somewhere it branches off and goes to something??? on the cylinder head right next to the valve cover, see pics, I think I attached them.
I have been trying to find a short in one of my wires, that I
believe is in the harness hugging the distributor. This harness is
coated with oil that has came down from the valve cover. I am
not sure if this is what has caused my problem so far. I need to
do more research...
.
Why would the Jeep designers not route the wires in better routes?

. The purple/white wires off the MAP and TPS do join together then turn into one wire. The purple/white wire coming off the TEMP Sending Unit also goes into the main big batch of loom which runs along the firewall but not sure if it joins these other wires in there or not. If I remember correctly the point the TPS/MAP wires joined was in the small square plastic rail that runs along side the valve cover. Again this is what cured my TPS codes but may or may not be your problem.
WOW!!! I can't freaking believe this thing. Wires are color coded for a reason. The wire to this temp sensor is purple/white. So are the wires to the TPS and MAP. What the hell do they have to do with each other. I replaced it and the check engine light no longer comes on but now the temp gauge reads higher than it did before. Not much but still higher. I want to thank everyone for their input. I've gotten very good advise on this website before and I am a loyal fan of you guys.

Yes, changing the temp control sensor actually fixed the code 24. Go figure. BUT... the next day I was getting my old lady a Starbucks and the harmonic balancer fell APART!!! The center was still bolted to the crank but the outer ring came off. I got that fixed today but this has been the week from hell and if this thing breaks again anytime soon, it's committing suicide!
Hey guys I also have an issue maybe similar to this.

These codes are from a 93 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0 4x4 Laredo. Please help figure out what's wrong with my Jeep, I seriously love this Jeep and it'd be a shame for her to sit in the shop for the rest of her life.

- You are hijacking a thread, and an old thread, at that. Not good.
- You are posting in the Cherokee section, but you have a Grand Cherokee. Not the same thing. They have their own section.
- When you post codes, post the entire code. There are many codes with the same last two digits.

Had same issue on 95 zj the. Pcm plug was dirty and corrosion was building up. be careful when putting the bolt back in on the harness.
