Default throttle body question

can anyone tell me what the cable that attaches to the throttle body closest to the front of the engine compartment is for? it a 01 XJ 4.0L

Default

That's the throttle valve cable (TV cable). Adjusting it controls how your trans will shift.

thanks does that affect the oil pressure in anyway.

Are we talking engine oil pressure or trans (oil/fluid) line pressure?

If engine oil pressure,no. If trans line pressure,yes.

engine oil pressure not trans line, it was weird cuz apparently i had forgot to hook up that cable to the throttle body and drove with it for a bit and the engine oil pressure started to drop out the other day after a long trip. so i check the oil and noticed that cable just lying there. so i hooked it up and there hasn;t been a problem since.

New one on me. How come you had the TV cable disconnected and how did the trans seem to shift.

i forgot to reattach the cable after putting in a new coil pack. the trans seemed to shift fine but my wife was driving it a lot more than me which worries me but i drove it and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. So i'd say it was shifting fine.
