Default throttle body bored at home?

so i got to thinking. I dont have alot of money to spend right now and i have some extra tb gaskets and i dont have a drill but i have a dremil tool with all the accessories you could think of.... and just throwing it out there... so you think it is possible to maybe bore out my throttle body using a dremil with a grinding wheel on it? i know i would have to take my time and make sure its square, but is it atleast possible? hmmmm? just asking for input, i am not committed just thinking

I have heard of folks doing this before, although I have never done it myself so I can;t add any details aside from that I believe it is quite possible. There must be a writeup out there somewhere!

I did one once on my old '92 Wrangler, and will do it to my XJ when I install my newer intake manifold. I used a simple drill motor with a sanding drum. I think you could do it with a rotary tool if that's all you had, but I would much prefer the wider surface of a drum. You'll have to be super careful to keep the bore straight with the smaller rotary attachment.

I think I read somewhere that the 4.0 IM opening is actually smaller than the base of the TB, or maybe that's just with the TB bored a bit, so to maximize this mod you'll also want to make the IM match the TB.

The YJ I did it to was a 4 cylinder so I was looking for all the help I could get. I noticed a nice gain with the 4.0 tb, but not so much when I later took that tb and bored it. Regardless though of the butt dyno, I still plan to do it to my XJ when I get to that point.
