Nobody debates putting on bigger tires....the FSM shows 225/75/15 tires and a 195F t-stat is what the XJ left the factory with.........but nowhere does it say either or both are required/recommended.
It probably doesn't say not to run kerosene in your crankcase either, but heck, it's an oil that is thinner than the recommended 10W30, so it must allow for less wear.

(Just in case anyone missed it, that was a joke....)
