is there a computer that controls engine, etc. in a 1992 cherokee?

just curious i dont know exactly when they begun putting them in the cherokee's

It started when they went with fuel injection in 86 or 87 I think it was.

Cherokees are fuel injected, therefore they have an ECU.

All of them had an ECU, except maybe 84-86 which was carbed.

so if i chipped it it would boost performance correct? do they even have chips for a 92

If you want performance, get a camaro and throw a built engine in it..

The way I see it, tuners arent really worth it.
You can get a different filter, change your exhaust, 97-99 intake, etc for about the same price.

that is true, i dont really need it. i already have straight pipe but im going to get k&n aftermarket filter should i also get a throttle body FROm A 97-99?

what are you guys talking about, the older years didnt have ecus they had hamsters, that why they had so many problems back then, dam hamsters die off and jeep wont start,

Ok i am done, honestly yes your jeep has a ecu, is a chip worth it, in my eyes no, like said above get headers upgrade intake to a 99 injector upgrade, and put a actual exhaust system on it, You are loosing performance by having a straight pipe, not only that it is illegal and not allowed to be discussed on this forum, A high flow cat and a good muffler will get you better torque and only cost you maybe 1-3 hp that is it

ok so your talking about getting the entire system that controlls all 6 cylinders not just the throttle body? i can get one at my local junkyard i am looking into a muffler already got in trouble about the cat on this forum so that will not be discussed lol

yes no need to chip it i agree mabye if it was a camero or stang
