Default Thanks, CF! Fuel delivery problem fixed. Simple solution.

Once again CF saves my bacon!

So I cruise the the store and buy my stuff. Was getting ready to hit the road with it for it's 2nd ever long-ish road trip (2.5 hours). Got a new air filter because my old one was oil-soaked. Gotta love the ol' XJ.

Anyway, I get out to the Jeep in the parking lot and throw in my new air filter. I get in, all jacked up to hit the road, turn the key and she fires up but dies right away. First problem I've ever had. I'm concerned but I don't panic. Try it again... fires up, I pump the pedal, dies right away again. I'm broke so I start tallying up possible parts and prices in my mind.. panic now setting in.

Try a third time with same result. First thought.. fuel pump. I turn the key to see if I can hear it like I usually do. Can't hear anything. Try again, hear nothing. Now I'm thinking "great.. tow truck, a shop's going to have to do this as I'm not set up at home with the capability to do my own work, this is going to ruin me. Good bye, food. I can't afford you anymore."

As I fight back tears I grab my phone and do a quick search and first thread I pull up mentions the ballast resistor. Obviously I'd seen this before but wasn't sure what exactly it was or what it did. But evidently if there's a problem with this part it will give symptoms of a failing/failed fuel pump.

With both fingers crossed and a rabbit's foot I jammed up my *** because it was worth the extra help it may provide, I pop the hood and get out to check it. Lifted the hood and the first thing I see is one of the wires disconnected from the ballast that must've happened when I put the air filter in.

FFFFFFFFF YAAAAAA!

Hooked the wire back up, jumped in the jeep, and hit the road. Made the trip without one single issue
