i changed out the belt for my 2000 xj but after turning on my car,and blasting the A/C it started squeakeing really bad.....so after this i decided i may need a new pulley.....now the pulley is replaced i have sprayed the belt with conditioners and i still squeaks violently.....
could it be that the belt is to tight?,or not loose enough?

Is this not the same thing?

 

belts generally squeal because they're a little too loose.

 

X2 tighten it up

 

If it starts to squeal when you turn the a/c on then I think you should check your a/c compressor it might be going bad.

 

Had the same problem after replacing my belt...didn't have the tensioner tight enough.

I did a quick job on mine, drivin home after about 2 min and anything over 2krpm would scream. Tightened it up and stopped.
