i treid searching google and have not found anyone having a problem quite like mine. i have a 96 xj, im guessing arounf 160xxxmiles. recently, my temp gauge has started going crazy. the needle bounces from peg to peg, with no rhythm to it at all. i replace the air charge sensor on the back of the intake manifold and the coolant temp sensor, to no avail.
it drives me crazy that i dont know my temp when im on the trails, although my truck never overheats (love my cowl hood).

any ideas what to check next? im kinda braindead when it comes to electrical

Sounds like a bad electrical or ground connection.

Probly a ground. When I did my push button start, I twinned the switches and the needle does funny things now...I need to find out where it grounds out. The connection on the column was pretty loose and dirty...then I cut it all up.
