Hi all, I just received a check engine light that states the TCM has detected a problem (P-0700)
Now what? I do have a scanner it's a Zurich ZR13 that I'm learning to use. All I find is info about a solenoid is damaged or failed. It drives fine and shifts like it always has so ANY suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I hope I haven't posted this in the wrong section....

UPDATE: First I want to thank everyone that sent me a reply! I did remove the pan and install a new filter and solenoids. The old ones were fine when I checked the ohms and were in spec. I put the new ones in anyway as I had them and was torn down so why not? After putting everything back together and refilling with fresh fluid I checked all the grounds that I could reach, cleaned them and took it for a drive. No codes, shifts just fine and life is good for now!...Again THANKS

Finished it on my 75th birthday! Don't wait till your my age to tackle this stuff! LOL

Reason: Update
All a P0700 means is the TCM detected a problem with the transmission control circuit. Check the fluid level and condition. A loose or dirty engine ground can cause all kinds of issues, random or intermittent.
Here are the engine grounds. They must be clean and tight.
This is for the solenoids. And TCM. The TCM is located on the drivers side, by your right leg. Small silver box about the size of a pack of cigarettes. You can use small safety pins as probes if your meter doesnt fit. Most dont.
Thanks, it did come back and now it doesn't shift into overdrive so I will check as many grounds as I can get to. Most likely time to drop the pan, install new filter and check the solenoids. If I remember correctly they were replaced when I got it 12 yrs ago. Stay tuned!
The filter is just a metal mesh screen that you can rinse out with some solvent. If you're going to drop the pan, I'd probably go ahead and order up a set of solenoids and swap them. The set isn't much mre than buying just the t/c solenoid by itself.
