TB torx screw stripped!!

Default TB torx screw stripped!!

Attempting to remove my TB from 90 xj, I stripped the rear (closest to the firewall ) torx screw head. Any suggestions?? Thx

They do make screw extractors that may work for you.

Weld the top of the screw and grab it with vice grips

Drill in one hand, Shop-Vac hose in the other (to pick up the chips.) Shop-Vac hose should not be over the throttle body.

Those screws (on RENIX) are threaded 3/8"-16 - if you can properly centre a 3/8" drill bit, you can pop the head off of the screw and lift off the throttle body. I've done that - then you get the throttle body out of the way, stuff a rag in the hole, and you have options.

Space is limited under there with the air hose down - so you'll either need to get a button head or a low socket head to replace it. If you wanted to use a hex head, you're going to want to put in a larger counterbore. If you want to use a full-height socket head or a stud-and-nut setup, you'll have to have a deeper counterbore (but, I believe, both are possible.)

Not sure about this particular screw but sometimes you can cut a groove across the screw head using the Dremel tool and use a flat head screw driver to get the screw out.
