I just did a overhaul of my a/c, and plenum box, doors, seals, etc., 2000 4.0L Sport. The new components work great to cool but, just a bit shy of that nice frosty air you seek on those 95-100F days of summer.

Do you think installing a 3.8L Taurus elec. fan or other fan in front of the condenser as a pusher fan would cause the cooling capacity to increase? I get 20 deg drop now, so would a 30-40 deg drop be possible with more cfm across the condenser?

I'm not trying to discourage u (or anyone else) from a mod but.........do a lot of searching/reading before tackling a Taurus fan install. It is a "bad boy" efan but it is also 16" in diameter, must be mounted very securely to the 11" tall XJ rad and electrical needs to top notch because it is a really hi-amp draw fan.

The ZJ fan clutch might help and would only take 15-20 min to install.

 

I Did the taurus fan on mine in line with the aux fan and I would definatly recomend doing it if you have the ability. Check out my build thread I've got plenty of in fo there on it as well as the other write ups I used. As far as electrical goes you definatly need to upgrade your battery cables and install a higher amp alternator.

But the taurus fan keeps my 4.0 nic e and kool and ill be running a trans cooler to take up the extra space the fan provides
