Please Help. I have a 2000 Jeep Cherokee. I noticed the tail pipe hanging low. I went to Auto Zone and bought a generic clamp but can not figure out how to attach it or if I even have the correct part. If someone could explain I would be grateful. A picture would also be very helpful.

A pic of what you're dealing with would be helpful. Odds are the hanger from the tailpipe to the frame (Next to the shackle) broke.

 

That sounds exactly right. How do I fix it?

 

on our beloved cherokees, the tail pipe hanger looks like this.

Replace the broken part. Let a exhaust shop handle it or pick up something like this to get it hanging right and tight.
