I suspect the switch, dash and tail lights are out but headlights will cut on. I looked and on the back it has a ground wire coming off it, which was sheared after me and my friend messed with it trying to reseat it i suspect...but could this cause no tail/dash lights? I know the headlights run through a relay so they dont rely on the switch for grounding...right?
No relay for the headlights unless you installed one aftermarket. Which is actually a common upgrade.
If its just a ground that you found it wouldnt be difficult to hook it back up.

I've had problems more than once with the grounds in the tale-lights, but just one side or the other, and not affecting the dash there. (for me).
They DO share a fuse. One early morning I wondered why my dash lights where out, that night I got a DUI, (parked at home), because my tail-lights were out.
TRUE!
If you make double sure there is power to, and through the fuse, I'd think you might suspect the switch...
In my sig there, (below), there is a deal cruiser wrote on dash panel grounding. Unlikely you have TWO issues at once....always extra fun when that happens!

It appears the ground wire is there to operate the interior lights.
Wiring diagram is for an 88, but I believe a 90 uses the same headlight switch.

Ahh that makes sense...sorry for being a nub at diagnosis and such
still, ill check fuses in the am to see if maybe thats the case...if not any other ideas? Maybe i pulled a wire when i was removing/installing the switch? I mean it only happened after my friend and i messed with it

Check the fuse first, lol. It's probably what went. Esp. if you were working on the switch with the battery connected. (did you pull the - cable?)
Might make sure the light switch connector is on right too, if you pulled the wire it may possibly have partially unseated off the switch.
