Where are you located? I have a pair of brand new blackout taillight covers I'm trying to get rid of. I decided not to use them. They're still in the box

You can always paint them with VHT nightshades. I got a can for $10 or so, and some clearcoat for $5. I love them, and you can choose just how dark you want them to be too...

Or you can buy the covers for a less... Umm.. permanent look.

Yep quadratec sells the black out ones as well as the slotted for 60 bucks I wanna say for a set.

The thing about spraying them...yeah it's cheaper. But if they're too dark...and someone rear ends you..they could say your brake lights were too dim and they couldn't see them and thatd kinda screw you. Compared to covers you buy them being 50 state legal darkness. And dot approved.

Very true. It's certainly a risk you take when you paint them. And with the VHT you can very well make them too dark. The nice part is that you can smoke the lenses as lightly as you want too, by using less coats. Keaton is right though, there are certain legality issues with lense paint, and it's up to the user to decide to risk it or not in order to save a couple bucks.
