alright. so driving to taco bell with girlfriend. and i realized temp gauge was wayy the hell over the 260 or what is the max.. so we go to taco bell.. and it died. but.. we walked to sheetz. and got water and put in radiator... got us home .. but staying at max pretty much all the way home. got home and filled it with 2 jugs of water.. drove for 5 mins. and it stayed on middle of temp guage.... was it just out of coolant?

 

its possible but check your fan clutch and water pump and e fan and tstat just in case, if you dont see any leaks and are loosing fluid than im gonna guess its a head gasket issue

 

Might of been... Check your oil, is it milky looking?

Also, be careful putting cold water in a hot motor, you dont want to crack the block.
(Ive seen it happen before, my moms old Impala with a 350 in it...)

 

it did look like when i poped the hood that it was smoking from the header??? ill be driving it to work soon. and i will find out if it over heats again. the a/c compressor is new.

 

Could be fan not working. I had the same problem with my xj. Just atert it up and wait for it to get hot. If the secondary fan doesn't come on then thats your problem. If it's a head gasket I think it would smoke through the exhaust ALOT. I could be wrong about that. But check your fan.
