Default Tach and Speedo problems

Driving down the freeway today my tach and speedo went to zero and my airbag light came on. It would function normally after a couple of seconds then zero out again. It just rained here so I'm thinking maybe a short of some sort. Anyone esle have this problem or a solution to this. Thanks

Default check for chafing of the wiring.

My 77 Hornet had similar problems .(same basic engine Only the Hornets tach was wired in line with the ignition, so it would kill the car.) The back of the engine is a good place to look. By the way it would help the old masters on the forum if you include year engine type of tranny . Every damn year something changed. (usually for the worst). Good luck and HAPPY NEW YEAR

My Jeep did this when my alternator went out and the battery drained real low while driving. After I put a new alternator and recharged the battery, it never did it again.

Simple.. Push the whole gauge cluster back with both hands on each side... The cluster has probally come loose over time or you have a faulty cluster...
