Default T0 98-01 owners. Reading codes w/o code reader device.

I found instructions in 99 FSM "Body diagnostic prosedures" how to read codes. I couldn't see codes on my 99 and 00. Try and let us know.

It's always been my understanding that you couldn't read codes for those years without a reader.

I have tried that procedure, without success, many times with my 2001.

I tried that a while ago.

It just did a fancy light show and went back to normal. Never showed or flashed any codes.

On a 99 btw.

Do you see check engine light blinking? That is what 97 XJs do.
On 99 code should be on odometer display, according to manual.
