Default T case poping out in 2wheel?

Havent seen this before. Ive seen plently of cases where if you shift the t case to 4w it will make horrible noise's,slam into gear,or pop out.

Im having a bit of a different situation.
Its a 94 Xj 5spd ax15, 231 with SYE.

When im in 2W ,going up a hill,or in deep sugar sand.. i will get a small bang noise and a ratcheting noise following it. BUT it wont go into a false neutral.

All while making those noises,it keeps power going to the rear wheels.

Any ideas?

Have you tried adjusting your linkage? http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=976227
