Default synthetic winch line

This is for people who run synthetic winch line....not my buddies, or i have seen guys...

how do you like your line? is it really easy to fray on trees, rocks? or does it hold up pretty good... thats the only thing stopping me i drag my line over anything, my friends jeeps, rocks, dirt...etc...

I guess if im careful i could use it... but what about those time you can only pull forward and it has to lay on some rough surface under load.?

hell i just want someone who has abused theirs to let me know if its wort the cash....i need to shed wieght and at 5 pounds vs 30 lbs...thats a good start on front end.
also wheres cheapest place to get it.

This is kinda old but I'll throw some info in here for future reference. There are many different types of lines out there on the market today, like everything else there is a budget end of the spectrum and premium section too. I work for Masterpull so I will give you the run down on the lines that we sell.

Amsteel Blue- This line works well for alot of people and has been used for years for offroading. Before that it was used on fishing boats and still is used in that way today. The problem with it is that it is not a very stiff line and is fairly easy to damage. This line is available from many different places and in a couple different colors too. http://www.amsteelblue.com/index.cfm

At Masterpull we produce a few stronger line options, including the strongest lines on the market today:

MP winch rope- It is slightly stronger then Amsteel Blue and is a little bit stiffer and also more durable then Amsteel also. http://www.masterpull.com/cpage.cfm?cpid=423

MP Superline- This line is much stronger (21,000 lb breaking strength in 5/16ths line) and much more durable then either Amsteel or MP winch rope. The line itself starts out as a larger line, it is heated and stretched down to a 5/16ths line. http://www.masterpull.com/cpage.cfm?cpid=413

MP Superline XD- This is the strongest rope on the market today and also the most durable. It's core is our Superline, with a outer braided cover that makes it incredibly abrasion resistant. http://www.masterpull.com/cpage.cfm?cpid=478

For any of the lines I would suggest a 3ft rock guard to go along with them. http://www.masterpull.com/item.cfm?itemid=9132

Here is a page on breaking strengths of all the lines, including steel cable. http://www.masterpull.com/cpage.cfm?cpid=197

Happy reading.

Also be sure to check your lines every so often, take not of any frayed spots and keep an eye on them. If you have a line that breaks you can always send it back to us and we will repair it for you. Washing the ropes out with water after each use will keep them lasting longer. Try to get the sand and grit out from between the strands of the ropes to keep them from being marred.
