Sway bar link kit?
I have a quick question. My Jeep isn't my primary vehicle, or second, so sorry if this is such a newb question.
I am going to replace the sway bar link bushings to try to stop a clunking. At all the parts stores they offer just the bushings and another kit that includes the 8.25in metal bar. Can I just buy the bushings or are you supposed to replace the actual link at the same time?
Is Moog brand somewhat decent?
Thanks for the help! This site always rocks.

It's up to you really. You can replace jst the bushings or the whole link. Ive seen the upper bushings in the store but not the lower eye bushings, so if you wanna replace both sets it might just be better to buy the whole link. Also that top nut 9 times out of ten is going to snap off and your gonna need a whole new link anyway.

The reason you only find the top bushings in most autoparts stores is for many years the actual links were dealer items only. Only within the last few years have the links been available outside of the dealer.

Perfect!
Looks like I will take the links off before buying new bushings in case I break something and need the full kit.
Thanks!

I just bought moog K3174 from amazon for $11 bucks a piece, now they only have one left, and they jacked the price to $27 each. From what I gather off of the internet Moog seems to be very good for replacement parts. I used a Moog ZJ tierod which I bought from advanced auto which has a lifetime warranty. If my tierod gets bent, I get a free replacement woohooo!! It seems to be a quality piece.

Moog is a good brand and it's advisable to replace the whole link. Even if you don't break it taking it off, chances are it's been twisted and become brittle from trying to remove the nut. I have no front sway bar because my end links are broken and is definitely not advised fro a DD. It floats all over the road. I got into a slide and almost lost control because the front was sliding all over the place.

what would be a good brand?, something that will really last. ive had enough with those cheap products out there that gives up on you on your most desperate times.
