Default swapping 99 to a 00 engine

so i have a 00 daily driver with 0331 head issue and i want to swap the entire motor from a 99 that i have. i dont want to just swap the head because the block from the 00 has 180k on it and i want to rebuild the 99 completely and then just put it in the 00. i guess my question is are the blocks the same as far casting. i know the 00 is coil and ill have to build a braket for that. but is there anything else that i should be looking for?

Hi Jay,
I bought a '95 long block and put it in my son's 2000 xj without a problem. You should use the '99 exhaust manifold though because the #1 exhaust port is different and won't seal off with the 2000 manifold. Aside from that it was pretty straight forward. Just drop in the cam synchronizer (make sure it is clocked correctly) and you're good to go. Our's fired right up. Good luck!
