ok, so my 01 cherokee has the dealer/aftermarket sunroof to start.
My sunroof has a small leak from what I can feel through the headliner, is from a bolt hole.
My plan is to pull the headliner, fix the leak with new silicon, and then while I am at it I was going to replace the headliner.
Now here is the problem...
it appears(without actually tearing it off) that they cut the head liner board in half, because I can feel behind the sunroof where the headliner board is cut, and around the sides and in front of the sunroof the headliner material is literally just pulled taught and tucked. so it seems anyway.
My question is first, has anyone with the sunroof option replaced the headliner? if so how was the board?
second, if the board is indeed cut, could I make my own board out of cardboard or something?
depending on what I actually find once I tear into it, I may just try and find a headliner from the same year jeep(I got the two "bubble speaker holes" in the rear) and try and make the new board fit around the sunroof. because as it is now there seems to be no way to make the area in front of the sunroof tight and smooth.... it just sorta hangs now, but like I said is pull taught so unless you poke it you really dont know its just hanging there...
Also, anyone else actually attempted to remove, and reseal there sunroof without saying **** it and siliconing the damn thing shut completely?! Because I actually like the sunroof! just not the wet sunvisor or seat!
