Default STUTTER!

Hi,

XJ 4litre 1993.

Engine stutters intermittenly at any speed especially when the engine is running temperature. Can even cut out at idle but starts immediately.

I've changed the:
Crank Shaft Position Sensor
Coolant Sensor
Distributor cap, Rotor, Leads and Plugs.

I'm running out of ideas!

Help please I', confused.

Cheers, John

is it hard to start in the morning? Do you have a check engine light on? I had similar things symptoms as yours when my tps went bad. But thats just a shot in the dark no need to throw away money. Also fuel filter if it still stock.

I would definetley check the fuel filter first but it sounds like the symtoms of the fuel pump going bad to me.

Wanted to add this: I had the same problem. It was ridiculous, so much so that I had to call AAA one night. My first thought was to point my finger at all the usual suspects: fuel pump, injectors, spark plugs, distributor, cap and rotor, wires, etc. Before I fired off the billion dollar parts cannon, I took my time to thoroughly inspect all of the above and more. Turns out I had a loose wire on the distributor cap, but that wasn't it because the Jeep kept stuttering after I pressed it on. I went back and did an even more through inspection. On second glance I saw that one of the two plugs that are just below the ICM wasn't clipped in all the way. I pushed it the rest of the way in and BAM! Problem solved!

TLDR: CHECK THE TWO PLUGS BENEATH THE IGNITION CONTROL MODULE. MAKE SURE THEY ARE PLUGGED IN ALL OF THE WAY AND IN GOOD CONDITION.
