Default Stumped.

Hello all,

I've got a '93 Jeep Cherokee I bought a few months back, and I've started having a weird issue. At random times, the engine just decides to shut off...I can be backing out of a parking space, or going down a road a 55mph, it doesn't seem to matter when or where I am. Also, it may do it half a dozen times in one day, then I may go several days before it does it again. It almost always cranks back up with no issue whatsoever. I've changed the coil, distributor cap/rotor, spark plugs [oh god they were pretty horrid], and just the other day, the throttle position sensor. I know the cruise control is jacked up on it, doesn't work, but I can't see how that'd cause any issues. The crank position sensor looks near brand spanking new on the thing [guessing the previous owner had recently done it. What should I check out next?

I would start by checking out your CPS. Just because it look new doesn't mean it isn't bad. Especially if is an after market one and not OEM. After market one are known to be bad new or fail fairly quick.

Thanks! I'll look into that this weekend hopefully and report back. Is there any test I can do on it before I yank it out to see if it's faulty?

Yes you can test it.. And as mentioned I would start with the cps... They don't always throw codes when they are bad.
