When the Jeep is running or turned off, my GAS needle is slammed past full! Just wondered if anyone had come across this before and what to check, to correct it?

So your saying no matter how much fuel is in the tank your needle is past full? It would be your sending unit is stuck. There is a float on it and sometimes when they are old its just gets stuck. Pull pump assembly out and look at it.

It's most definitely the sending unit. I had the same thing on mine. You'll have to drop your tank to get to it so be ready for some work.

Well not really. I dont have to drop mine. What year is your jeep? The newer ones are a pain but the older ones you just climb under and pull it out

Mine's a 99 and I had to drop the tank. If you don't have too then that makes it WAY easier for you to change it out.

Ya it depends on the year it is. I had an 88 and didnt have to drop it and in my 91 I dont have to either. Just crawl under and take a look. So no rdplz is yours on the top of the tank?

But make sure you get the right year sending unit. I had one from my old 88 that I put in my 91 and it read backwards. lol

Yeah, and it sucks having to get to it. A big thanks to Chrysler for making a stupid design for the sending unit!

Ya I would diconnect youe battery and then relieve the pressure in the lines and then just take to 2 hoses off and spin the lock ring and pull it out. Just dont go crazy you will have to move it around due to the float and sending unit. Its not hard you can do it.
