Im building a budget stroker out of a 96 (i beleive..) 4.0 and using a 80' 258 as the donor. The 4.0 is in great shape so im not boring it, just honing with new rings. While looking to buy a rebuild kit online, they list kits for 87-95 4.0 and 96-up 4.0. Does anyone know the difference in these. Im not sure if i should get the 96-up for my 4.0 block and pistons, or the 87-95 kit for my older crank and rods.
I was under the impression that all the bearings were the same between 258s and 4.0s all the way till 06'
Thanks.
