stroke it, turbo or supercharge it?
Jus bought a 4.0 HO out of a 99' xj for my 98' and unsure whether to stroke it out, or do a general rebuild and get s turbo kit from 505 performance or get a supercharger. What does everyone think?

I say, storke the motor out to 4.6, put a volumetric supercharger where the AC should go, also turbo it, make it a compound boost setup.
Of course, even with a HUGE intercooler, your air temps are gunna be a little warm, the way to solve this is use a little bit (or a lot) of Nitrous.
Make sure you get full forged internals, plus, with this setup (I don't see why this can't make over 1000 hp) you're going to wreck trannies, t-cases, drive shafts, diffs, axles, and everything else as soon as you step on the gas, build full (30-40lbs) boost, and juice it all at the same time.
But we don't care about that, just make it make over 1000 hp, and you'll be a Jeep god...

Be a jeep god!!! Hahahahaha!! Well if you didn't do the suporting mods on a 1000 hp motor tou wouldn't look like a god to me!! You'd look like one hell of a dumb *** that has more MONEY than SENSE obviously. But yes as for my opinion yes stroke it and just do some decent top end work. Bigger cam, head porting to match the cam specs, port the intake, bigger injectors, and of course the supporting exhaust you'll need to flow this motor. In this case there a go. Another 2k in parts and another 1.5k in labor f you don't know how to build the motor.

In all reality though, this depends on your budget, if you only gots yourself a few hundred bucks, cam it, P&P head, TB Spacer, Exhaust, Nitrous, that'll get you a lot of HP without the juice, throw in a mild (60-70) shot of juice and you'll be makin' over 300 HP easy, that'll smoke tires, hehe. All that stuff you can do for under a grand if your good.
If you got money, I say stroke it and turbo it. Because turboing it would require a rebuild anyways (well, most likely, playing it safe though you would have to rebuild it), so why not stroke it when your rebuilding it? Turbo is going to require a lot of fab work, exhaust, intake, FMIC, moving the rad most likely, theres a million things on the "turbo checklist". But if you're good with that kind of thing, or have a good friend that is, then I say do it.
At either rate, you're going to have to figure out Fuel and Spark Management. most likely an SAFC2 or Mega Squirt for fuel, and a DIS2 or similar for spark. It's a lot of work, but the results can be astounding, I've seen little 1.9 liter saturn motors put out over 400 HP when done right.
