Thanks for all the suggestions, Honestly i didn't even think about swapping out the knuckles. Does that require any follow on maintenance like wheel bearing or an alignment?

I was talking to someone at work earlier and they suggested this. Did you put a lock washer on or locktite. this might be my temp solution till i find some helicoils or new knuckles.

Whats a good price to pay for a knuckle? I have never price them and dont want to be boned.

Thanks again

I had a guy pull one for me for $25. There a sinch to pull yourself, i lacked the tools at the time. Make sure u have some PB blaster or something to pull them and you have the 12pt socket for the hub assembly and the big socket for the center. I dont remember the size off hand.

Anyone ever done this? What would be my best option?
I was thinking helicoil because if i tap and die it, i will have to use a bigger bolt which won't fit though the caliper.
Any suggestions

Thanks
did the same thing on mine, went to napa on sunday and bought the kit for like $30,40. works fine, and i have even had it apart after that. i stil have the kit if you need the size, just give me a pm and i can get it tomm.

There is a product called a Keensert that works quite well, we use them all the time at work to repair damaged threads. a bolt can be removed and installed many times without damage unlike a helicoil that may work one or two times.

If you are going to use a longer bolt and nut then forget the helicoil, if that does not work than on to the knuckle.

I actually bought a helicoil kit last noght at adavanced auto for 30 bucks. I will research keensert and see what all that entails. hopefully this helicoil works out. But if not i will look at the next step.

Thanks All

I was just fortunate enough for this to happen on my XJ. Think I'm going to try the bolt and nut idea till I can get a "new" knuckle. (Might even go with some upgraded knuckles when the time comes.) Maybe even weld the nut in place once it's all tightened down, would sure make it easier for removing and replacing.

ok.this is the fix for all fix so i hope you all take note.get a nut that fits your bolt.and grind into a cone shape.you dont have to go crazy but just enough.dill out the treads and beat the nut in from the front.it pulls it self in the more you tighten.i do this at the shop cause most people dont want to pay for me to swap knuckels and the longer bolt and nut works until you get new brakes the is just no room.if you can a tack weld helps but is not needed i would do this on my moms car if she had a jeep

I was going to helicoil mine also, but was strapped for time.
I used the new bolt that came with the new calipers and threw some thread lock tight onto it. The first few threads on the knuckle piece were messed.

I havent had a problem with the bolt since.
