Went to crank up the driver's side window on my '87 Pioneer. I had earlier let it down about halfway; it was 106 degrees here today.
Crank handle wouldn't budge window. Not wanting to over-force something, I opened the door and got out. Grabbed the top of the window and worked the handle/regulator at the same time. I could feel and hear gear teeth not exactly meshing inside the door. I did get it closed by coaxing it up slowly.
Checked it when I got home. Now when I work the window crank to go down I still hear and feel grinding.
Anybody know if the regulator and gears are still available from Jeep? (Probably not.) Someone said the regulator assembly is riveted in?
Is this going to be a salvage yard only thing?
Need some quality advice please before I pull the door panel tomorrow. thanks!

I'm in the same boat as you.... passenger side just clicks/grinds if you dont help it up. I bought a used regulator from ebay. When I tried to put it in, it looked like I was going to break the window so I'm back to square one. Also, the used regulator had broken glass all around the white connector
. Theres a white plastic bushing that connects the regulator to the window, when I tried to take out the bolt it sounded like cracking. Not sure if it was from the plastic or the glass but I didnt want either to break. Sorry not much help, but if I figure something out, I'll update for sure. Good luck

Update: Believe it or not, the OEM quality regulator is still available from Jeep. Got one coming. It will be here tomorrow. Not cheap. Should last another 25 years.
