So my 90 XJ seems to be having an issue. Picked this guy up a couple weeks ago for near nothing, seems to be in good shape, drove it home and everything. yesterday, as i was driving her a bit to diagnose any issues that need resolving, i took about a 15mile stretch down the local hwy10 got her on up to about 75, no issues at all getting her up to that nor back down to a stop. As im doing a lil biy on in-town driving back home, it starts to develop a funny little shifting pattern where it seems to want to stay in 1st far too long, and once it DOES shift out of first, its pretty much right into overdrive. I manage to get home, pull in the drive way and shift to park. Once i shift it into park, it idles really loud and hard...somewhere around 2200rpms. shift it back into drive, and idle drops back to normal (1200-1500). shift to nuetral, hard and loud idle. Back to park and the same thing.
Turn it off for about 10 min, go in and have a beer, come back out and start it up, and is idling like normal all across the range from park to nuetral to drive.
I dont really feel as thought it is tranny issues because it seems to almost come and go. hopefully some of you guys can give me some good input!
