Default Strange Noise

There is a strange noise coming from the rear of the vehicle when I take my foot off the gas usually around 30-45 mph. Kind of sounds like grinding or something but I am pretty sure that nothing is rubbing. I recently put on a 3 inch rough country lift and 31 inch all terrains. I have a 99 2wd xj.

Any ideas?

Strange noise...hm... what motor do you have? what trans do you have? when was the last time you changed your rear diff fluid? Who installed the lift? are you using factory wheels? or are you using after market wheels? did you check your u joints in your drive shaft? Where the tires mount and balanced recently? What kind of tires are on there.. a strange noise can be a million different things... and we need a little bit more info to help you out.. or feel free to take a video

I would say the rear U-Joint. Had the same issue before, I found the bolts on mine like to loosen themselves so i would start there. And check it to make sure the joint isn't shot too, just wiggle it around, shouldn't move too much.

6 cylinder 4.0, after market 15 inch pro-comp wheels, the lift was installed by a shop, not totally sure what kind of tranny I need to check that out, never made the noise before the lift so it obviously is connected to the lift, noticed the output seal was leaking ATF so I had that and the u-joint on the driveshaft replaced.
