Default Straining sound under acceleration.

Have a noise issue that I couldn't find a good keyword to search on for this problem.
So, I will try to describe it as fully as I can.
Have an 01 XJ, 4.0, AW4, 4X4, 231TC.
When I drive the Jeep with a light foot on the gas, everything is OK.
It's only when I give it a good throttle push, that it does this. It will make a straining sound that sounds like I am power braking the vehicle. Sounds kinda like it is from the TC.
(I used to drive a hot rod, and would power brake it to get a good jump off the start. Thats how I know how power brake straining sounds and feels like.)
Getting the same feel and sound as the hot rod in my Jeep.
I also feel a sort of grinding/vibration that goes away as soon as I let off the gas a little. Only does this during hard accel.
I have a theory, and want to see if anyone comes up with what I am thinking as a solution.

The only thing I can think of is a bad motor/trans mount twisting the drive angle. I am sure there will be other info offered throughout the day...Tj

Thanks, Tj.
Motor mount/trans mount was my first thought. But I am open for any other suggestions as to what it might be.

Hey I am having the same problem. I get a vibration/noise with a hard acceleration from start. If I hit the throttle normal almost no vibration or none at all. Did you have any luck with it? Its weird cause its like a rattle/chatter I can feel under my feet.

This sounds like what I have with mine. From a dead stop if I try to get on it...sounds like growling noise (straining feel) and vibrates trying to get going...but if I just drive off nice and slow...no problems. I thought it was a bad torque converter....but I took it to a tranny guy and he said not the problem. I think he really didn't want to work on my jeep for what he quoted me.

I feel it has to do with the transmission in some way. Front pump? Fluid problem? Engine runs strong and it's worse on a hot day than a cooler one.

Once I am rolling it's normal till I stop again at a light or stop sign. Driving down the highway it's all normal and even hitting passing gear is still good. Just at a dead stop. I still think it's TC or some sort of Transmission problem. I sometimes here some stange noises from that area at idle at a light.

Any idea?

I have same exact problem too! I blamed the TC chain. But I havent put much in to figuring it out.

How long have you had the noise and how many miles roughly have you been driving with the issue. Just curious to try and see if it is an issue that would lead to a major failure of a part.

Heat seems to make it worse....so the fluid in the transmission is getting hot and thinner.

1 = I would think the Torque Converter is bad....but not sure
2 = Maybe front pump problem....but I would think it would be always...but not sure
3 = Pressure problem ...maybe it is too low at idle?

I am so ready to fix this....but what is it!!!!!
