Default Stock water crossing depth?

How deep of water can a stock XJ cross without the risk of hydrolock? Also, what is the correct procedure for crossing a river?

Thanks in advance,
s

I do not know the exact heigth, but the air intake for the stock air filter box is behind the drivers side headlight.

Right. I can easily pop the hood and eye ball where the bottom of the intake is where water could seep in, but I'm looking for a bit more insider info on this. No I don't need measurements, but I am looking for personal experience and technique. Does water get sucked into a stock airbox easily? How fast to I enter the water (e.g., slow may get me stuck on the bottom of the water but does too fast increase changes of sucking water)?

Well, you would obviously want to cross a water crossing slowly if you have the option. If you charge into it full force you stand a better chance of sucking water in that isn't even at your fjording depth. When it spalshes up. Plus I'm no tree hugger but doing as little damage as possible at a creek or river crossing will help keep all of our trails open.
