Stock Transfer Skid
Hey guys. So I went to the junkyard and picked up a stock transfer case skid plate from an older XJ
My question is do you guys have any advice on mounting it? My XJ didn't come with one from the factory so I dont have the captured nuts to bolt it on. How would you guys reccomend that I install it?

There is a larger hole inthe unibody I think closer to the rear wheels. slide the wire in through one of the skid plate holes through the channel and out the larger hole. take your favorite bolt and throw a lock washer on it. Wrap the wire around the bolt and fish it through the channel by pulling on the wire. It might take you a try or two to get the knack of it, but its pretty simple.
not the same spot, but it should give you the idea
Once the bolt is through repeat with the second one.
This last part is a little ghetto:
since the bolts are now hanging down through the channel with nothing holdig them in place on the other side they are pretty loose, you wont be able to ratchet a nut on them. Put your skid over them, and hold some pressure on it so you can start the nuts on the bolt. Once you get enough thread sticking out past the nut grab it with a pair of vice locks and tighten the crap out of it with your favorite wrench.
Mine hung down too low so I just cut the excess off with a wheel.
I have never figured out how I am gonna get em off when that time comes. probably just cut them off
