Im not a big fan of xplode's. They sound ok but really lack bass.

Any low end audio components do. Rockford Fosgate, Sony, Dual, Boss, JVC, Kenwood, Lightning, Kicker, JL, etc.

Sony I've always felt your paying for the Sony name especially with speakers. They make them all flashy instead of working well.

Sony is fairly cheap. Brands you pay for the name include-kicker, jl, fosgate, kenwood, etc.

Sony, pioneer, not really paying for the name, your paying a cheap price for a cheap product.

I have to disagree with you on Kicker and Rockford Fosgate. I had two 12" kickers and they were amazing! They arent the best but for the price the worked damn well for the 8 years I had em.

The rockford amp I had power the subs worked great too. For a few hundred bucks my system hit harder than guy with systems costing thousands of dollars.

Not really opinion, fosgate and kicker are low end products. Kicker drivers have SPL due to high sensitivity, but lack any sense of SQ being its lost in the terrible noise. Fosgate WAS good, til about 2000. All their current equipment lacks power/sq/spl and not to mention CS is down the drain.

And I can make a $500 system hit harder than mine, to the human ear. Doesnt mean anything. I have a Orion HCCA 12" powered by a SAZ4500D with its own EQ board and a inline LPF. I can set mine to the exact dB output of your driver and outperform you in everyway. Whether it be loudness, SQ, SPL, or even just a little dB meter test. You get what you pay for. Kicker/Fosgate/Sony/Pioneer/JVC/kenwood/fusion/lightning/JL/etc is all beginner low end equipment. Some are better than others but when it comes down to it, none of those are great or even mildly good products, minor exceptions.

Sorry to thread jack, but since all the current brands are being considered low quality speakers, which company and speakers would you guys suggest..??

I am currently running Pyle Marine 6.5 Component speakers 2 in front doors and two in sound bar.. also have 2 5.25 rockford fosgate speaker in my rear door panels.. All powered by 1000w 4 channel Pyle marine amp...

Once i have money , Im getting 2 RF Marine Subwoofers And 2000w RF Mono Amp.. I would prefer their older tank looking amps but dont see them around to much.

Pyle was good, a while ago as well. Fosgates older stuff is good, late 90's.

Good audio companies include DD, Ascendant, RE, DC, Orion, SSA, Fi, etc.

you just cut a little of the meat out to make the hole bigger then use sheet metal screws to put them in.
thats not very major especially to an xj owner, same with the rears, i have 6 inch speakers iirc in my front and rear, but the water killed em off already

If your looking for some good sounding resonably priced 5 1/4's then i would look into Infinity or Polk. They have the best mids and highs for the price range they are in. As fare as bass responce goes, dont expect to much from any 5 1/4 inch speakers, they are just to small of a speaker to really produce good sounding bass! In my daily drivers i always put infinity all the way around then a single 10" setup to get my good clean bass. Nothing that is going to rattle the mirrors off but it will sound good and clean!

Eh, Polks not bad, I wouldnt go saying Infinity is good though. Kenwoods mids/highs are better, and still arent too great.

Top of the line-RE, Ascendant, JBL, DLS. JBL is best bang for your buck.

With an amp almost the price the car my system was in it damn well better out preform my bargin buys!!! Your obviously looking at stereo equipment leagues above my desires and I would think alot of people here as well. My system sounded great. It hit hard and had a nice full range.

It sounds to me like your grouping all the low end average consumer electronics as crap, which they aren't. Not everyone wants to spend thousands of dollars on a stereo. There's nothin wrong with your info but on a site where most people are beating their jeeps up on the trails you may want to consider what advice you put out there. Seems like people here and more concerned with off-roading and not gettin stuck and just want a decent system to keep em entertained of the drive tot he trails.

Not necessarily, You dont need to spend alot for a good system. JBL mids/highs, kenwood HU, sundown/jbl/etc amp, SSA drivers. Thats a system under $600 and it wil sound amazing and perform well.

Thanks- Graham

If you don't want to worry about anything at all during installation AND you want a plug n play speaker that is a substantial upgrade over stock, go with these:
