How do you remove the Factory roof rack cross bars?

You pull the end caps off and slide the rails off.

What if the buttons don't push in? I've tried PB blaster, cleaning them out and one on each crossbar will not depress.

THe buttons on my old ZJ didn't want to push in at first - brute force & ignorance are the right tools for the job here :-)

I pushed mine in with a big screwdriver and a rubber hammer, after I got em off, i cleaned and lubed em, whala, works like a champ.
