hi all im trying to work out if my xj is still got stock suspention does anybody know the distance from the centre of the wheel to the edge of the arch/fender on a stock one i have a pic of mine for reference

mobilecherokee4 06-06-2009 05:21 PM

that doesnt look stock, it looks like it has at least a 2'' lift

Cherokee 4.0 06-06-2009 05:24 PM

17 inchs from center of hub to bottom of fender in the front and 17.5 in the back. That doesnt look stock. Prob an 1.5 to 2 inch lift

syncview 06-06-2009 05:26 PM

I need that figure too.. How can I find out if my Jeep is at stock height or not?

syncview 06-06-2009 05:28 PM

Yeah make sure you get the direct center of the hub. and the very bottom of the fender.

i did measure correct but its not quite on even ground will measure again in the morning the rear springs look new so maybe they will settle a bit

Shouldn't matter if you are on even ground or not. If you measure at center of the hub ie very center of run to the bottom of the fender flair you will get the proper measuerment. So it should not matter if you are parked on an flat surface or not unless the suspension is flex.

I will say based on the pic you don't have 4.5" in the rear.

I believe it's 17.5 front, 17 rear. The rear is naturally lower than the front but only by design, not height.

I started out by taking measurements of his jeep to see where it sat before the lift. Stock Cherokee measurements are 17.5" for the front and 17" for the rear when measured from the center of the wheel hub to the bottom of the stock fender flare. Here are his measurements, front and rear.

So how much lift did it give? FrontRearTypical stock XJ measurements, wheel hub-to-fender17.517.0

mobilecherokee4 06-07-2009 12:25 PM
