I would say 1/2 to 1 ton
Its designed to lift one wheel at a time, not under the diffs or anything. If you are upgrading, I would pick up something rated at 3 tons or more.

I just picked up a scissor jack that was brand new from the junkyard. The bottle jack that I got with my 99 was missing the part to turn the **** to raise/lower it and it was hard to move anyways.
Definitely get a floor jack for home. Some jack stands too. I would suggest getting 4 eventually.

The biggest you can get lol.
3-ton at least. My dad had some 6-tons we used to use but they got stolen. It was nice to have the extra height. I guess not all stands would be like that though.
