Default stock 2001 in need of shocks.

Hey, just wanted to get some input on the best shocks for the $$.
I mostly use it for street driving, But I do go off road now and then .Nothing major,Just the kid stuff(still fun tho).
Anyway,Just wanted to hear from u all.

Ohhhhhh yea , I hear the top mounting bolts can be a bear to get off so any help on that would be most welcome.

Rancho RS5000 get my vote, and yes the upper bolts can suck pretty bad, esp if you live in the salt belt. I recommend hosing the bolts with PBlaster for a few days before you try to remove them

Rusty's performance shocks ride great for me and at 30 bucks a shock you can't beat the price. Next to that I'd say old-man emu shocks are awesome but expect to pay for them.

I didnt care for the Rancho RS5000's on a stock suspension. Too harsh.

I did like the cheaper Bilsteins like OE on the ZJ's.

I still run a Bilstein shock, love em.

Old man emu hand down the best shock i've ever run.

I tried skyjacker hydros for a couple years. Those are nice and valved well for jeeps.

I have BDS and they are a very comfortable DD shock and work pretty well off road too. A little pricey but worth it IMO.

Ranchos are greats on full size trucks but on our XJ's not so good..I like my RE shocks..If I ever buy any more shocks they will be Bilsteins though..My neighbor just replaced his ranchos on his 84 Blazer with Bilsteins and the ride is way better..

Yeah i tried rancho's one time...for one week and then off they came and skyjacker hydros went on. what a difference. Those rancho's are definitely for full sizes. They aren't vehicle specific or valved for jeeps.

Hammer will work. Just beat it HARD. PM Stryker here for tips. He did this mod on his cherokee. I like how he did it.

OLD MAN EMU shocks are the best but they are a little expensive but well worth it. They perform on and off road great can't beat'em.

Default Nice....

Well all the Shocks are in.
Went pretty well. All 4 rear Bolts did break, But the air
hammer worked great.Just ran some speaker wire thru, Twisted it around nut(with washer) Then fished them thru. Worked like a charm.
Iwas even able to get the front top nuts off. Soaked em with PB on and off during the week, Then when sat came ,one more squirt,Quick love tap with the air hammer( TO shock the nut bolt bond ) and they were out...

Only down is.....When I was down there I did see some bushings that will need some replacement........To BE CONT........LMAO.
THANKS for all the tips .NICE SITE....
