Default still over heating

my 96 xj was running around 240 so i decided to change the t-stat. after i changed that my water pump took a crap so i changed that. after i changed the w/p the temp would heat up to 260 and shut the engine down. i had aa air pocket. after i burped it the temp was at a steady 210 right where it should be. and now its running at 240 again i dont know what else could be wrong. and both my fans are working

Maybe a leak in the system. Try burping the system again.
