Sticking Tach?

recently when i start my jeep, the tach wont move until i tap the throttle. is it possible for the tach to just stick? or are my gauges screwed?

my after market did it too.. but then it stuck at like 2K n wouldn't move so i got pissed taped it with a screwdriver still wouldn't work so i punched it a few times the next day i went out and it was like new!!
