Default Stick xj problems

I have just lifted my 88 xj with a 4.5 rc lift kit. It's a stick shift and since I've lifted It I've had problems going into 2nd gear and reverse. I don't have an sye yet. Is that the problem? And when I get an sye is that all I need or do I need a new driveshaft too? Any other advice would be appreciated; I'm new to jeeps.

With that much lift, you will definitely need a SYE. I put 3" on mine with a transfer case drop and it wasn't long before i got some wobble in the rear shaft. With the SYE you will need a driveshaft that slides on itself like the front shaft. I used a stock front shaft from another XJ for my rear shaft. no problems so far.

Did you drop the transfer case ? lifting has no effect on shifter unless you did. Then shifter hits floorboard in rearward gears.

No I didn't drop the transfer case. Do you have any idea what could cause the transmission to do that?
