steering wont turn left? Bad steering box?
So i just replaced the steering column. Thanks for everyone's advice. I ground out the ignition cylinder lock so that i can turn it over with no key! The cooling system had no resevoir! All the hoses were connected together and there were leaks everywhere. I replaced all the hoses. Tested the thermostat. It worked fine. Now it cools perfectly. When i immediately turn the jeep over the temp gauge immediatly goes all the way over. All the way to the screws. So do i need to replace that sensor? And i have a steering box in my 93 parts jeep. Can i take the steering box from that and put it in my 88? sorry for such a long thread!

Correction. I just took it for a drive. It has this weird quirk where the steering box like gets stuck. I have to push it hard when turning left and right. Then it works fine after that. But when im not moving its hard to get it to go left. it gets stuck half way!

There is no bent items that are steering related. There is no air in the lines. It must be in the box? as for the temp guage. I can turn the car half on so its just the battery and the guage stilll goes all the way over!

Well I looked at the temp sensor. It is worn and u can see the wire insides of it. So i will prolly fix that here in a little haha. Should be an easy fix. So i just pulled the steering box out of my 93 parts jeep. It should fit in an 88 right? And for the little spoon L shaped, forgot what its called. That is pointing to the left quite a bit when the wheels are straight? could that be an issue? Or should i just go for it and swap the whole box? I have the 93 colum that connects to the box since they are different. The lower part of the column i had to take off and i kept it incase i needed it. so i have everything to swap the whole shabang.

so the guy that use to own it had the steering pump go out. he replaced that. so maybe the steering box is just worn out because all the steering components are okay. I pulled a steering box out of my 93 parts jeep yesterday. will it fit in my 88? and should i probably swap it?
