Default Steering Problem Identification?

I have a lifted 97 XJ. All of a sudden my steering is VERY loose. I have to turn the wheel a long way before wheels respond. THe steering wheel moves easily however and fluid is topped off. This literally happened after pulling out of garage, driving 5 miles, stopping for gas and getting back on the road and BAM steering was screwed.

When observing from up under, when steering wheel is turned the XJ's body actually moves back and forth before the tires turn. You have to turn the steering wheel about 3/4 of a turn to get any resulting movement from the tires. I drove home about 35 mph and was really worried the whole way.

Just wondering what I may be in for? If it ain't one thing its another!
