Default Steering parts don't fit.

Last night I bought the Left Inner Tie rod due to a torn boot, this is the one that hooks to the long tie rod on the right hand side. Went to put it on and it wont go, is it possible that the connecting rod is on backwards and I need to use a left outer here, they look the same just reversed threads. If the prior owner replaced both at the same time is it possible he installed them backwards. If so can I leave it this way or should I pop the left outer off and turn it around. Thanks for the help.

I'd just take it back and get the one for the other side and yes you can run it swapped.
