I prefer steel wheels. I have had the aluminum ones fall off. Another thing is if you hit something with aluminum it can break. Steel will bend. I actually put the medium threadlocker on the aluminum ones.

aluminum rims are nice because their light and when you lift it and put bigger tires on,with aluminum you shave weight/rolling resistance etc but you cant wheel/offroad as hard as you would with aluminum rims. I considered getting weld aluminum rims for the xj but decided against it as i like to romp up curbs, trees and rocks.

Default just switched

I just switched from aluminum wheels to steel today - this is the look I was hoping for...

I hope the mods don't get mad - if so, I'll take this second picture down but I don't have enough posts to put these in the 4-sale section... pm me if you're interested...

Yeah, it is all in what you use your rig for, I use mine on trails and go with aluminum rims, if you get good ones they are stronger, and hold a bead better than steel.
I always hear about the guy that bends a rim, and just takes a hammer, and straightens it, but in 35 years of wheeling I have never seen anyone straighten a wheel good enough to hold a bead and not lose air. As for the lug nuts falling off, yes it can happen, but it isn't that hard to re torque them after about a week, hell I re torque my steel wheels too.
