Yep, my 97 has 215 on the door jamb sticker.

 

What are everyone's recommendations for replacement shocks at stock height? Main concern is good ride quality but I also do pull a small boat and utility trailer a couple times a month as well.

I just got done installing Monroe Sensa Tracs, (gas).
Couldn't be happier.
My '99 Sport is bone stock.

 

Perfect. I looked at them but I've used Monroe in the past and they've been hit or miss depending on the vehicle.

My door jamb sticker says 195/75 lol

I'll see if I can remember to get a pic later of the sticker in the glove box that shows the tire pressures and sizes.

My previous XJ left the factory with 225/70r15. Over all the years and options, there were many different tire sizes used. Ones I know of:
195/75r15
215/75r15
225/70r15
225/75r15
225/70r16

I've seen 235/75r15 rumored to have been factory at one time for certain XJ's, but I've never seen this confirmed. Same with 235/70r15.

 

makes me want to go check mine now... I'm running 235's and speedo is dead on.
But man did those 215s look soooo wrong on an XJ. Almost like that West coast "low rider" look. If you know what I mean. lol

 

I had to change my speedo gear in both my 96 and my current 97 for 235/75r15 to be speedo-accurate.

 

I've been thinking about doing that to mine. I just put 30 x 9.5 x 15's on it.
Problem is, I have no idea which gear to get.
When I looked, there must of been a hundred different colors to pick from.

Like I posted before, the door jam says 215, the build sheet says 225 and now I have 30's.

Use any of these charts to select the correct gear. It doesn't matter what your sticker or build sheet say. What matters is what tire size you have NOW and what your gear ratio is NOW.
