Replaced the CPS. Starts but shuts off immediately like it does when the alarm system is going off. But the security light isn't popping up, even when I connect and disconnect the negative terminal. Any ideas?

replaced the CPS. Spliced/grounded the alarm wire. Disconnected the alarm box.
Still will not stay running. Shuts off as if alarm is going off.

If you continually run these vehicles real low on fuel, the fuel pumps get messed up...........

Does it stay running if you hold the key between the start and run position? If so, might be the ign switch. Otherwise, sounds like a ballast resistor problem. Or a bad sensor. "new" is not always good.

You started another thread to talk about the same problem?!? Stick to one please.
And if you continually start new threads daily for the same problem your sources of help die as well.

Maybe a mod could correct the title of the thread so that people reading it who might be able to help won't pass over it, thinking it's about something else.
As it reads, it doesn't make sense (because a fuel problem won't prevent an engineer from turning over), so some folks might just not bother to read it.

I'm sorry I started a new thread, I just got really frustrated with this Jeep. It starts just fine. It doesn't sputter, doesn't take long to finally turn over. It starts up, just as it should. I've been throwing the idea around in my head that it could be a computer problem. The reason why I think that is because I've scoured the internet for similar problems, and came across a post about a Grand Cherokee having the same issue. Their computer basically registered that there had been a break-in, and it then set off the automatic shutoff. I've tried resetting the computer as the post stated by unhooking the battery and leaving it off for 10 minutes. I hooked it back up after 15 or so, and it still did the same the same thing. Am I making sense only in my head and believing something to be the problem when it's not actually the problem? I'd hate to buy a new computer and it end up not fixing the problem.

I don't think your '91 has any anti-theft in the computer. The Grand Cherokee you read about may have, but that wasn't his problem either as the anti-theft doesn't let it start at all. It may have been a computer issue with the fuel pump circuit or something else.
When you let go of the key does it shut off instantly as if you'd turned the key off or slowly sputter out? Once we have this information we might be able to help you diagnose it.
