Have you tried cycling the key a few times before starting it. Or checking the pressure at the rail before each try? if you have a small (or big) pressure leak and are not letting the pressure build up before you turn the key to start, you wont get a start.

Im pretty sure that the fuel pump does not run while the key is in start, and the only pressure you have to work with is what was sitting there when you turned the key. Try giving it a few cycles from off to run before trying to start it.

yeah cycling the key works, therefore, does that mean that it is my fuel pump?

or somewhere in the delivery.

If you 'pump' it 3 times by turning the key when you hear the pump (but not starting it), and then leave it sit for a few hours and go back, does it start right away? I dont think the fuel recedes back into the tank after its been primed in the line.

like mentioned, whats the pressure at the rail?

i have a brand new fuel pump in mine and it ALWAYS takes 2 trys. how old are your fuel injectors? maybe they leak and flood the engine some? that's the theory with mine

try to start it in neutral if it starts on the first try in neutral its your neutral safety switch and the fuel pump does kick on as soon as the key is turned to the on postition so if you turn it over to where it sits while runnin the fuel pump does kick in cause if its real quiet you can hear it when you turn the key over it sounds like a little buzz
